~muggled girl~
who am I?: Holly, but some of you may know me as Ilex or Lex or possibly hey you
how to find me: AIM: exmrsvaughn YIM: madampansy, Email: muggled.girl@gmail.com
ancient wonders of the world: I'm thirty-eight (ancient in the terms of RP, but I like to think it's because I'm both experienced and fun - read that as old geek or rockstar as you may).
the place i call home is: Never-Never-Land, which is apparently in Florida, EST for anyone that isn't sure about their geography.
experience: I first started playing table top RP when I was a sophomore in High School. For those of you who don't like to think about maths, that was in 1988. The first game I ever played was a Marvel Universe game (My character was named Hell Fire, and was well... pretty badass, at least I thought so then) and then I graduated to AD&D. In 1995 I was introduced to online RPing in the form of a Star Trek list server game via email called the United Federation of Players. I started off as an ensign on a ship, and ended up the Captain of a ship, the Co-Commander of a starbase, and one of the seven council members. The UFP was made up of over 200 players at one point, and I was in charge of approving applications and assigning players to stations. After several years, I graduated college and fell out of RPing in general in favor of real life. I still read fanfic (mostly Xena and then later, Buffy), but didn't dabble until in 2003 when I started to write Harry Potter fanfic. By December 2003 I was introduced to the world of Journal Based Rping, and joined a game ran by some friends. There I played Pansy Parkinson, my first love. Later that year I started another game with a friend. I played in these games for about a year, then Real Life in the form of a child came into my life, and I discontinued play other than PSL's until April of 2007. I've been playing since then, almost exclusively in the Harry Potter fandom. I like to think I've developed quite a bit as a player during this time, from characters that make me cringe a bit to characters that are three dimensional and jump off the screen.
my thirty three cents on rp: I like to RP. I love Character development, especially quirky characters who are a little different from the norm. I think part of the fun of RPG is shipping, and I love putting my characters through torture, breaking them up, putting them back together, throwing them in prison, you know the drill. I do like to play out things realistically, and while I certainly have been swept up in a ship and gotten a bit ahead of myself, in general I like to let things take an appropriate amount of time. As far as slash goes, I'm gay personally, and I dislike people that write gay people like one big nasty walking stereotype. I also detest reading slash scenes that have no basis in reality. As far as characters go, I hate seeing games where everyone is gay because, let me tell you, in real life, not everyone is. I also dislike seeing a gay Harry, because while I'm not a canon nazi, in my head it has to be done really well for me to buy it.
As for games, I enjoy threading, and like games where people actually thread. I do not like waiting days for responses or feeling like I'm bothering people by asking them to scene. This is RP, threading is what should happen. On the same note, I completely get that RL happens and I certainly can sometimes go a day without returning a tag, but if it's any longer please ping me because, you know, I might have had some sort of freaky moment and forgotten. I have recently started doing Journal entry social games, and I find those fun, sort of a break from the more serious games, but I like to do a bit of threading, even in those.
characters i play: About everyone. Seriously. If you look at my list of past characters, I think you'll see that. I play both girls and boys, but often tend towards more minor or lesser known characters. I like someone that's not perfect, that has flaws. I have a few favorites, but in general I dislike playing the same character over and over. I like something fresh and new. In regards to PB's, I try to stay away from the ones everyone uses and likes, with a few exceptions. Often, when I make up a character, I find the PB first, and use it as inspiration for the persona.
things that make me twitch: PB Games, Games where everyone is played by an Olsen twin or a boy band member, poor spelling and grammar, games where no one can write worth a damn, games where nobody plays, people who try to foist ships off on you, moderators who take their job way too seriously, world-suck.

my life outside the box: I'm a published author and I have a real life job working with animals. I live with my partner and our kids as well as with several dogs.
what the heck is this anyway?: This journal is part CDJ, part PSL enabler. I may occasionally start posting other things here. Possibly. Originally this was a PSL for myself andduchessofavalon but it seems to have evolved. I store all my applications and playing history here, and who knows, maybe someday I'll do something interesting. If I've friended you it's because I've RP'd with you somewhere, or maybe I want to RP with you, or maybe I just think your icons rock.
